The Active Wellbeing Society is a community benefit society and cooperative working to build healthy, happy communities living active and connected lives. 

 

We are grounded in the communities where inequalities are at their highest, and we work with them to tackle inequality and promote community development. 

 

We want to help create a kind, inclusive society where resources are shared according to need. We recognise we all need to play our part in improving community wellbeing, including working together to meet our own wellbeing needs- including the need for food, physical activity and mental health. 

 

We deliver a wide range of free activities and services aimed at improving wellbeing at an individual and community level. By working collaboratively with communities we aim to bring about sustainable change on a social, environmental and economic level. This will make communities more resilient, and remove barriers that prevent them from living active and connected lives. 

 

TAWS is a registered Community Benefit Society (CBS), number 7595, established for charitable, benevolent and philanthropic purposes under the Cooperatives & Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. We are an independent social enterprise, working wholly for community benefit and operating on mutual and cooperative principles. 

 

We were established in 2017 from Birmingham City Council’s Wellbeing Service. We are a public service mutual registered with and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. 

 

TAWS is recognised as having charitable status by HMRC, for tax purposes. 

 

TAWS is a membership organisation and operates a one member one vote model to make decisions democratically. 

 

All TAWS assets are locked in place for the benefit of the communities we serve. There can be no private gain from any investment or profit made.

The Sunspot Cafe can also cater for your events from hot meals to finger buffets. Food is also available by delivery via Just Eat.
