Established in 2023 Sunspot was born out of a vision to create a dynamic, affordable & flexible space where businesses, could come together to learn, collaborate, and flourish.

Since opening:
We have successfully leased 21 out of 24 units to local businesses & entrepreneurs beating estimating forecasts from the feasibility study by over 3.5 years. Two businesses have already upgraded into larger units due to the sustained growth they have achieved since arriving.
We have a now established thriving weekly market featuring local crafters and artisans selling unique handmade treasures.

Working with the Jaywick Community leaders we have hosted a Christmas fete & market and a pancake day event that was covered by ITV Anglia. We currently have plans to host an Easter egg hunt, outdoor cinema night, summer fete, airshow event, fireworks night & crabbing competition keep up to date with our plans on our Sunspot news page to join us at our many community events,

Community Garden
The community garden includes a range of native species and is maintained by Tendring District Council, with the help of volunteers. If you are interested in getting involved email thesunspot@tendringdc.gov.uk
How The Sunspot was funded
Funding for development of the Sunspot has come from a £2.39million share of the Government’s Getting Building Fund, administered by the South East Local Enterprise Partnership, along with £2.04million from Essex County Council and £816,000 committed from Tendring District Council.
In addition, part of Tendring District Council’s £1.18million allocation from UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund is supporting the operating costs of the facility.
